Toyota C-HR CKD to cost around RM120k, CBU RM170k! Coming in Q1 2018

News from AutoBuzz:

For starters, the cost for a fully imported unit will set you back a hefty RM170k. For a car that’s priced just below the RM100k mark in its homeland Japan, surely there’s a way to bring prices down for prospective buyers, right? As it turns out, UMW Toyota Motor plans to invest in local assembly, possibly bringing the final figure down to about RM120k. It will also be certified as an EEV.

Now, which engine will we be getting? Apparently, many still find it difficult to make do with a 1.2-litre engine, despite it being turbocharged. Instead, the company is shifting most of their focus into the 1.8-litre hybrid variant, which shares the Prius’ Hybrid Synergy Drive setup. It’s rated to be nearly twice as fuel efficient as the 1.2-litre turbocharged unit, going up to 30.2 km on a single litre of fuel versus the turbo’s 15.4 km/L.

The C-HR can be had with an all-wheel drive, but the hybrid is only offered as a front-wheel drive. All C-HRs will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P, electronic parking brake, and Smart Entry & Smart Start system as standard. The C-HR G trim – which is usually the premium trim – will receive 18-inch wheels, premium seats, Blind Spot Monitor, and Front & Rear Parking Assist Sonar.

With that out of the way, perhaps it’s time you think twice about getting that Honda HR-V
